We are seeking expressions of interest for our Adhocracy Early Career Curator paid internship.
Who are we looking for?
We are interested in hearing from South Australian-based emerging/early career artists, curators and programmers. You can define early career for yourself; you may be in the first five to ten years of your career or you may be an artist who is newly branching into curatorial and programming fields.
Ideally you will have attended Adhocracy in the past however this is not essential for applying.
You will have a knowledge of and desire to work with Vitalstatistix; and will be able to identify what you would like to bring to and receive from this experience.
Key information
The selected person will join Vitalstatistix Director Emma Webb and independent artist Paul Gazzola in their annual process of selecting the projects and developing the program for Adhocracy 2022.
The selected curator will be notified by 10 June and needs to be available to read applications and meet with the co-curators over the following month. The selected curator will receive a sitting fee of $2000.
If you haven’t attended or participated in Adhocracy before we highly recommend you check out the 2020 and 2021 sites, the 2019 public program and short documentary videos from previous years.
How to apply
To submit your expression of interest, please provide us with the following via our online form.
A letter of introduction, of no more than two pages, that outlines who you are and why you’d like to undertake this curator internship, including what you’d like to experience/learn and what you can contribute.
A biography or abbreviated CV, of no more than one page in length.

FAQs & Advice for Early Career Curator
Do I need to reside in South Australia to apply for this if I come from SA? Yes, you do need to be a current resident of South Australia to apply.
How much time is involved? It’s hard to say until we know how many applications we have received but we estimate around 50-60 hours for the Early Career Curator role between mid-June and the event in September. It is spread out and is doable even if you have other jobs on at the same time. It’s pretty flexible.
Early Career curator applicants will be notified of the outcome by 10 June.
