Piece For Person and Ghetto Blaster is the story of a man, a woman and a duck. It is about the excruciating realms of human behaviour. It is an attempt to navigate the complexities of trying to become a better person.
Preoccupied by how social conventions obstruct the possibility of personal liberation, Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster is a duet between physical action and spoken language, creating a space for dialogue.
So what if in the auditorium, all together, we create conflict? And what if we create conflict just so we can practice transformation?
Commissioned by Mobile States, this new show from riveting, subversive creator/performer Nicola Gunn, choreographer Jo Lloyd and composer Kelly Ryall, tries to understand how we can all get along.

Company/Presenter Profile
Nicola Gunn is a Melbourne-based artist and performance maker. She creates work that blends participatory performance, live art, video and installation to explore the fragility of the human condition with subversive humour. The starting process is often a written text or idea imagined responding to a self-generated impulse to tell a story or explore a form. She draws mainly from her experience to create ‘autobiographical fiction’. Nicola has received critical acclaim for a genre of sophisticated performance: including At the Sans Hotel (2010-2011), Hello my name is (2012), In Spite of Myself (2103) and Green Screen (2014). Tours include Wellington, Christchurch, Berlin, Dublin, Rotterdam, Edinburgh and throughout Australia. From 2001 – 2007 Nicola toured extensively throughout Canada on the fringe festival circuit.
As a performer collaborator, Nicola has worked with Tamara Saulwick, Ridiculusmus, The Rabble and Ian Pidd/Jessica Wilson/Bec Reid. As a dramaturge and outside eye, she has worked with writer Emilie Collyer, Peepshow Inc., No Show and choreographers Jo Lloyd and Shian Law. In 2013 she was awarded an Australia Council Creative Australia Fellowship. Nicola is lead artist and Artistic Director of performance, art and design collective SANS HOTEL, and is committed to site-specific and experimental work.
