After a nuclear holocaust, all that will be left are cockroaches and Cher.” Jimmy James
Contemporary dance takes on the ultimate pop chameleon, Cher. Sounds weird? It is, in the best possible way.
Choreographer, dancer and fan, Larissa McGowan uses Cher’s iconic figure as a totem for exploring the rage and reinvention of the universal ageing female artist.
Cher is an inspired mash-up of genres, gender, power and popular culture; a headfirst dive into self-discovery, pride and immortality.
Created with an all-star team of South Australian artists, this solo tour de force is back for five shows only, in an especially created experience on the Festival Theatre stage, after premiering at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2019.
“A sparkling reminder of the old maxim that one of the purposes of art is to make the familiar strange, and the strange familiar.” Ben Brooker, Witness Performance
