The Creative team for Dirty Harry consists of three artists Martyn Coutts, Caitlin Comerford and Duane Morrison. Martyn and Caitlin are attending Adhocracy while Duane works remotely from Melbourne.
Martyn Coutts
Martyn Coutts is an interdisciplinary artist based in Australia with a postgraduate degree from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. The work he creates spans across theatre making, dance dramaturgy, video design and festival curation. He is interested in the live body in action, its relationship to technology and to its observer. His work has been shown extensively throughout Australia and has engaged strongly with the Asia-Pacific, having shown work in Taiwan, China, Korea and New Zealand.
His Green Room award nominated work I Think I Can (with Sam Routledge) has been presented ten times around Australia since its premiere in 2013 and has toured internationally to the US, Taiwan, Canada and Europe.
He was Director of the Melbourne Fringe keynote project for 2010, Visible City, Co-Director of the SAC35 festival in Hobart in 2012 and Co-Director of The Wheeler Centre’s 20 Questions presented at Brisbane Writers Festival and the Wheeler Centre Gala in Melbourne. Martyn is also part of the Artistic Directorate for The Unconformity festival in Tasmania and was the Deputy Chair of the Next Wave Festival Board of Directors.
As a founding member of artist collective Field Theory, Martyn has been involved in all of their projects since 2009. Field Theory were named ‘Cultural Leaders’ in the field of Live Art in 2011 by the Australia Council.
From 2010-2015 Martyn was an Associate Artist at Aphids, engaging in programming and creation of multiple works including the national tour of Thrashing Without Looking.
As a video artist, Martyn’s designs have appeared in works that have been presented at Melbourne Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, Ten Days on the Island, and Dance Massive.
Caitlin Comerford
Caitlin is an independent dance artist who has been based in Brisbane for the last five years, having completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance (Performance) at QUT in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance (Honours) at WAAPA in 2010. She has a strong history in choreography, teaching and leadership across a diverse range of communities. Caitlin also has an impressive resume of dance performance as an individual and with her collective MakeShift.
As an alumni of Canberra based youth dance company QL2, Caitlin knows the immense value of being a part of the youth arts sector and brings a deep passion and wide network to her role as Artistic Director at Stompin. Across all her work, Caitlin aims to create authentic opportunities to communicate and connect.
