A participatory research and performance project, unearthing contested histories of nonviolent resistance, inspired by a passive resistance movement at Parihaka, Aotearoa, in the late 1800s, and other rousing, discomforting tales of civil disobedience.
Daley Rangi is a Māori antidisciplinary artist generating unpredictable works and words. In this new project they investigate the apparatus of protest and community-led, anti-colonial practices, collaborating with dramaturg and performance-maker, Kaurna and Narungga man Jacob Boehme.
During Adhocracy, the artists will converse with each other and other activists about embodied sovereignty and the hard work of change; and they will explore an intimate audience experience framed around a transformative encounter at the base of a mountain.
